Web-based software, many times referred to as browser-based, has began to advance beyond the limitations of what traditional software previously addressed. This maturing of sorts has opened doors for users by presenting them with options such as more flexibility, mobility and complete connectedness. It is hard to ignore these increasingly widespread options. For instance, how many of us, whether consciously or not, are completing more and more of our daily work on a browser. Whether it is utilizing an application hosted on the Web or within an organizations Web technology. The truth is, there is no way to escape this ever increasing technology.
There are multiple benefits to running a business utilizing a browser-based software system. First and foremost is the option of saving time and as the old saying goes “time is money.” Of course this means with browser-based systems companies will also save money. To do so there are a few different options starting with the IT department. Web-based means the software system is placed on a server at one central location. Each individual desktop will have access to this system which means IT personnel will not have to run around the enterprise upgrading each individual computer, known as “Thin Client Technology”. Since the system is at the one location there will be a reduction in hardware if your organization has any additional remote locations because the only hardware required is already in existence.
Businesses notice a reduction in the amount of hours required for training of employees on the system in addition to better resource sharing since each location will have access to the same vital information. Updates can be completed effortlessly and are almost instantaneous across the enterprise allowing for the systems to be continuously up to date.
To keep your company in front of your competition choose a vendor that can offer agile browser based systems such as ERP. Finding an agile system will help your organization stay away from the canned solutions offered by many vendors and it will offer your organization flexibility and the option of setting foot in the right direction.
